20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord. 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.

Colossians 3:5
(ESV) “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry”

(TNIV) “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.”

(NLT) “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.”

(NET) “So put to death whatever in your nature belongs to the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion, evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.”

ESBSB Note: Greek therefore your members that are on the earth

None except the NASB goes with the more literal NKJV like rendering here.
(NKJV) “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”

(NASB) “Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.”

Colossians 3:9, 10 (Old and new man is changed to old and new self)
(ESV) “Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.”

(TNIV) “Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”

I now have to mention my main dislikes for translations such as the NIV, TNIV and NLT (I dont know who else renders the term this way). They sometimes use the term "sinful nature".
(NLT) “Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”

Some have suggested "fleshly desires" as a more appropriate rendering here and in other places where the NIV, TNIV and NLT use sinful nature. It is a shortcoming I hope they work on in future revisions.
